Susan Black is a collaborative pianist, singer, and opera coach, and has been an active performer and instructor in the Toronto area for twenty years. She has been on faculty at York University since 2003, as a piano instructor and a collaborative pianist. Susan has been an opera coach at the University of Toronto’s Opera Division since 2016. She has two Master’s degrees from the University of Toronto (in Voice Performance and Collaborative Piano) and also studied at Oberlin College in Ohio. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Victoria in Voice Performance.

Susan was a member of the Canadian Opera Company Ensemble and has sung with the Canadian Opera Company chorus since 2001. She has performed throughout Canada and Europe as a soloist and a collaborator in recital, choral works and opera productions. She is the former music director at Erindale Presbyterian Church in Mississauga and St. James Anglican church in Cambridge, Ontario.

Susan lives in Cambridge, Ontario with her husband, two daughters, and a cockapoo.
